School of Music:   Introduction

Thank you for your interest in lessons at The Westport Music Center, LLC. The following information should help you learn about our school. Under the direction of Stephen and Franklyn Sasloe, the Westport Music Center has been providing a balance of contemporary and traditional music instruction since 1965.

Lessons
During the school year, we offer weekly, private lessons on a semester basis. (See our registration and tuition pages for details.)
Our diverse faculty welcomes students of all levels (beginners to advanced), in all applicable styles (classical to jazz & contemporary). Some minimum age requirements apply.

Our voice instructors offer a variety of specialties. We provide vocal coaching, audition preparation, and traditional voice training. Whether you're interested in singing opera, liturgical music, popular songs, or show tunes, we can recommend the correct instructor. Our voice instructors also provide piano accompaniment.

Our studios are equipped with all the necessary accessories. Students bring their own instruments (except for piano & drum students); amplifiers are provided for electric bass & guitar.

Recitals
Near the end of the spring semester the Westport Music Center holds its annual recitals. Families and friends are invited to hear the students perform. Details regarding the scheduling of recitals are posted on our current events page as soon as they're available each spring.
Participation in recitals is encouraged, but not required. Recitals are for piano, voice, brass, woodwind, violin, viola, cello, and string bass students.

Summer lessons

Details regarding summer lessons are made available the preceding spring.

(Very) Young Students
At the Westport Music Center, some minimum age requirements apply. If you're looking for music instruction for younger students, we confidently recommend Mary Ann Hall's Music for Children program.
